Piano Room
A single room, a steadfast location. Three people develop slowly like photographs amidst a moving piano on wheels to carve dimensions, shift designs and ultimately, find the effervescent state of potential in this existential human art story. Piano Room was developed, in part, by a commission and space grant through the Duo Multicultural Arts Center, New York, NY, where it premiered in 2008.
2008, 20 minutes, 4 performers
Music: Keith Jarret, Bob Dylan, Beethoven
...Engrossing were offerings by Julian Barnett... the movement, particularly an aggressively physical duet for him and Jocelyn Tobias, conjured a host of fraught relationships. - The New York Times
